Recently some minor changes were made to the frequently asked questions portion of this Web site and the terminology used in the Price Look Up (PLU) number database was updated. It is important to note that these changes were merely changes in nomenclature and not widespread enhancements that will affect the functionality of the site. Changes include:
- Removal of the "Type" column, since all codes are global. Some codes will have restrictions based on where the product is grown.
- Renaming of the "Growing Region" column to "Restrictions," given the above explanation.
- Removal of the "West" designation to reduce confusion among retailers and grower-shippers.
In addition, for certain commodities that have "East" and "Central" designations, these items will be given a "restricted" designation to note that they are only to be used for product that is grown in these regions and that these are specific to certain items grown in North America. These codes will be noted as "Restricted for items grown in East/Central North America" in the database.
